During music practice tonight, we reflected upon this Scripture:
My soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from him.
He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken.
There is a climate of panic pervading our community, related to the already and not yet detrimental effects of the burgeouning oil spill in our region. People are feeling the loss at a personal level. One article pictured a front yard in Grand Isle, with a graveyard of white stake crosses commemorating such things as " shrimp creole, sand between my toes, yellowfin tuna, red snapper, crabbing, walk on the beach, bonfires, and fish fry." The impact is expected to be felt on many levels.
I am very concerned about these events, yet need to be reminded that my source of peace is not reliant upon favorable circumstances but on an unchanging and ever-present God. As we are led and empowered, we can take an active role in helping where we can: but not out of a place of fear but of peace.

Julia, this is an excellent reminder about our Source of peace - and acting from peace rather than from fear.
