Satisfy

"Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days." Psalm 90:14
Satisfy. With what? With favorable circumstances? With life's cooperation with my personal plans and aspirations? How is it possible to sing for joy and be glad all our days?
Your unfailing love, O God, must be truly amazing. I confess, I don't see the direct link between your unfailing love and joy and gladness all my days. I still feel these are tied to my circumstances and that once I "get it right," joy and gladness will be forthcoming. Thank you that these promises are not contingent upon me getting anything right, but on Your unalterable love. Satisfy me.

For me, I find that feeling good in my body and my mood is strongly linked to joy and gladness. I am very attached to my bodily and emotional feelings. Yikes!

Why Yikes?

Yikes because I realize that allowing one's equilibrium to depend on one's bodily comfort indicates a fairly low level of character development.

I'm right there with you. Joy and gladness are much more likely when I'm feeling well, and like myself. It's good to know, however, that when I inevitably am unwell, that God still provides joy and fulfillment by His grace. I catch glimpses of the truth: "I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation. Whether well-fed or hungry, living in plenty or in want. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Phil 4: 11-13. The passage before verse 13 often gets left out, but I find it enlightening.

A good deal of my happiness is related to my day to day behavior and the way I think about myself and others.
Being grateful is huge. The more I give thanks, the happier, more optimistic and physically healthier I become.
Good deeds for others such as writing a note of appreciation or taking a meal scores high too.
