Well, the magazine I submitted to just came, and I'm not in it, so....guess it's time to follow my Grandma's advice of making it a goal to collect as many rejection letters as possible, and eventually something will shake out. Reminding myself it's always worth it to make the effort to write, even if "nothing" comes of it. Writing is a transforming process, in and of itself.

Don't lose heart, Julia. It often takes a magazine months to go through all of their submissions. It would have surprised me if you had appeared in it this early. Even if they do not accept you (and you should hear either way), you should not be discouraged! All my writing profs always reminded me that 90% of most attempts are rejected. You just have to persevere. But I wouldn't give up on this mag yet! Love to you...
Julie
Thank you for your words of encouragement to persevere and not be discouraged.
I am reminded of doing art projects with young children. Often it is not the final product of what they create so much as the process of their exploration and creation of it that is valuable. And I want to keep up with the exploration and creation process, regardless of outcome, while not giving up on submitting material either. Interesting mix
