I recently returned from a renewal weekend. One of the themes was looking for ways to nourish the self and attend to personal needs. One young woman shared her shock and befuddlement when her therapist ended her first session with the words, "Now name a few things you are planning to do to take care of yourself this week."
Each of us faces a lengthy to do list each day. I way of making self-care more intentional would be to be sure to include a few "get to do" items: walking the dog, finishing that novel, setting up a coffee date, journaling on the front porch, trying a new recipe.
