I finished it! It was the biggest work-out my brain has had in some time. I picked up Tolstoy's classic at the library on a whim, challenging myself to finish the first three chapters, just for a taste. And once Tolstoy expertly described his characters and the cultural setting of Russia and the idiosyncrasies of Napolean himself, I was drawn in more and more. Granted, I skimmed a good bit of the military explanations and focused on following the relationships, but I got through all 1300 pages!
The kids were cute, periodically checking on my progress, and congratulating me on whatever page I was on, then asking how many I had left to go.
I haven't yet read a classic that I didn't find worthwhile. I wonder what I'll read next. Any suggestions?

Congrats Ju!
If I ever start that one, maybe you can boost me through it.
much love.
Thanks Nate. I was thinking of trying more Russian lit. Didn't you read The Brothers Karm...? What did you think of it?
